Penn Yan, NY— Cornell Cooperative Extension is offering a Master Food Preservation Certificate Course this fall for individuals who want to take their food preservation skills to the next level. The intensive three-day training will be held at Dundee Baptist Church on:
This course is designed for those who want to preserve food safely at home—or share their knowledge with others. It is the first step toward becoming a Cornell Cooperative Extension Certified Master Food Preserver.
Taught by experienced Master Food Preservers Diane Whitten and Karen Mort, the course combines classroom learning with hands-on practice. Participants will gain a solid foundation in the science of food preservation, food safety, and practical skills, including:
The training also includes a comprehensive food preservation manual. Participants are encouraged to complete nightly study in preparation for the post-test. A score of 85% or higher, along with demonstrated experience in all preservation methods and teaching others, is required to earn certification. No prior experience is needed to enroll.
