4-H Families – Fall
activities are in full swing, and I hope everyone is having a wonderful first
week of school activities! Fall is a very busy time for 4-H; please see
below for upcoming deadlines, opportunities, and announcements. As
always, feel free to reach out to me at jja26@cornell.edu
with any 4-H questions.

Please reach out with any questions. Remember, you must hand your
paperwork in to qualify for the Year-End Awards.

Announcements
-
Can and Bottle Drive to
Benefit Kane Smith – Our 4-H Teen Group is sponsoring a Can and Bottle
Drive to support the nephew of past 4-H Educator, Tammi Jo. Please
consider donating your cans and bottles. They can be dropped off at
the 4-H office or on the front porch of the Dairy Bar. Please also
promote with friends and family!
Year-End
Paperwork
- All year-end paperwork
needs are updated online at https://yates.cce.cornell.edu/4-h-youth/4-h-forms.
A mailing has
also gone out to all families with paper copies of all the forms you need
to complete. We know no one likes paperwork, but this information
helps us document our program reach/impact and helps us work to secure the
funding needed to continue programming efforts. Please don’t forget
also to turn in your Achievement Night nomination forms, available via the
above link.
NYSF
- State Fair has come to
an end, and Yates County sent 1 youth for animal science, 2 youth as Teen
Leaders, as well as our youth projects. Yates County was small in
numbers but shined with new experiences, lots of positive project
feedback, and 3 Purple Rosettes for outstanding exhibits!
Congratulations to all who took part! State Fair projects are
available for pick up at the 4-H office. However, we are trying to
organize a 4-H display for National 4-H Week. If you would like your
project included, we are happy to store it in the office until
October. Just let us know!
